the naked dress.

The reactions of people today when someone wears a sheer dress is always that of ‘shocked and interested.’ When Kendall Jenner wore her ‘naked’ dress – a chainmail La Perla gown – to the Met Gala of 2017, everyone freaked out. Perhaps, because it was ‘Kendall Jenner.’ It was only a matter of time though, seeing as ‘naked’ or sheer dresses have been around for centuries.

(If you don’t wanna read my babble… skip to the bottom to find out where you can get this look!)

Before Miley’s nipples were all over the place and Beyonce’s Met Gala ‘gown,’ risqué outfits were already being worn by Marilyn Monroe – Norma Jean had no problem with leaving little to the imagination. In 1993, Kate Moss took the Elite Model’s Contest to a whole new level of sheer, where one could literally see her panties.

Then, in 1998, Rose McGowan had everyones eyes on her at the MTV Music Video Awards. Her ‘thong’ dress must have been the most uncomfortable dress to wear – she can be lucky there wasn’t too much wind!

As the 2000’s hit, Britney Spears, Toni Braxton, Miley Cyrus and a long line of other celebrities have adorned the ‘naked’ dress – including Kendall Jenner and Hailey Baldwin.

  1. I absolutely love the look of this dress but I’d never have the confidence to wear it! I like to be more covered up but it’s a stunning dress xx

  2. I love how you’ve incorporated your own risqué dress into the post. Your confidence exudes through the photographs. I also must add that nothing is really new in fashion just the bodies wearing it. I enjoyed your timeline of previous women. It really brought it all together.
