açaí bowl discovered in Cape Town! | Beet Box

For months I have been trying to find a place that makes açaí bowls… at long last – I have succeeded!

HuffPost writes: “açaí bowls look like ice cream, almost taste like ice cream, and make you feel good about your breakfast choice. It’s what breakfast dreams are made of. An acai bowl is basically a really thick smoothie that’s been topped with oatmeal, fruit or peanut butter, and then you wolf it down with a spoon. For breakfast. After eating a bowl, you will not only feel happily full (for hours) and have satisfied a sweet craving (no need to cave for a donut), you’ll have also done something that was good for you. Win win.”

Açaí berries are high in antioxidants, healthy fats, dietary fibre and are anti-inflammatory.  It’s no wonder that açaí bowls are the new popular trend.

Mojo Market is full of ‘hip-and-happening’ little stalls. It’s open 7 days a week and is situated on Regent Road in Sea Point. With 45 designer retail stalls, a daily fresh goods section and 25 food vendors – there’s sure to be something for everyone. I found out about Beet Box on Instagram. The next day – I was there.

It was to-die-for!

I promise you, it tasted as good (if not better) than it looked.

I decided to have an almond cappuccino from The Mojo Coffee Company – it’s open 24 hours a day! I think almond cuppa’s are overrated… a normal cappuccino is definitely better. If you’re avoiding dairy, then this would definitely be the next best option. For me, it costs more and doesn’t taste as good…

My friend, Donata, had a poke bowl which looked almost as good as my açaí bowl.

Even if açaí bowl’s don’t seem like your style – there’s definitely going to be something for you at Mojo Market. It has an assortment of mac ‘n cheese, sushi, pizza, burgers, ramen, salads and so on.

I decided to rock my mom-jeans (they are literally my mums old jeans), my fluffy sliders and an olive shirt. I fitted in perfectly with the laid-back vibe of the place.

Let me know if you’ve given it a go – or if you’re planning on heading there sometime soon.
