NYX Cosmetics: Products I’m Loving!

A couple of weeks ago, my mum and I were floating along the makeup section of Clicks (where South Africans buy their ‘drugstore makeup’), and I couldn’t help but notice how many products there are to choose from! So many names and brands for (seemingly) the same thing.

I write ‘seemingly’ because trust me, they are never the same thing. The amount of nude lipsticks I have brought home only to realise that this colour is not nude but rather a shade of orangey brown.

Well, today, I have for you my top NYX Cosmetics products that I am absolutely loving! To be honest, whenever I walk into Clicks and am looking for something for my makeup collection – NYX Cosmetics is the first place I will go!

For starters, this highlighter (mine is in Golden Hour) is fantastic! Oftentimes highlighters are waaaaaaaaay too overpowering and make you look like a five-year-old discovering glitter for the first time. However, this highlighter adds a really nice shimmer to your cheekbones. If I am in a rush or am not in the mood for makeup – all I will do use use my Maybelline Brow Mascara, pop some of this NYX Away We Glow Highlighter on my cheekbones and soften my lips on some of my Labello Lip Butter (Vanilla & Macadamia Flavour.) As a side note, this specific lip butter SAVED MY LIFE when I was on Roaccutane. So if you have any issues with dry lips – get it! Maybe pop past the cosmetics section and get the highlighter too while you’re there?

When I say I have searched for the perfect nude – I mean I have SEARCHED for the perfect nude. Ladies and gentlemen – I have discovered it at the NYX Cosmetics stand! These soft matte lip creme’s not only moisturise your lips – but it lasts for ages! The best part is that they don’t bleed (which means that they don’t run off of your lips into the creases around your mouth and make you look like a lipstick demon – in case you were wondering) and they have a huge range of colours to choose from. My favourite two have to be ‘Cannes‘ and ‘Abu Dhabi.’ When I went back to look for one for a friend – ‘Cannes’ was sold out so I think there are many people flocking to get their hands on that shade. ‘Cannes‘ is slightly more pink than ‘Abu Dhabi.’ I suggest getting both so that you have the choice each morning!

Growing up, I despised lip liner. I never understood why women would put a dark red liner on the edge of their lip and them put a totally different shade of lipstick on top of it… Today I understand that it’s meant to help stop the bleeding (no demon face!) This nude liner has to take the prize – and it goes really well with the creme lipsticks!

Last, but not least, has to be liquid liner. There’s an entire range of ‘That’s the Point‘ liners that come in all different shapes and sizes. I love the smaller tip ones as I feel you have more control over your liner. It’s always easy to make the liner thicker and impossible to make it thinner! I also prefer the look of liquid liners – I find it gives a neater line – and a neater line means a more polished look!
