Yesterday, I was lucky enough to attend the launch of the new Gigi Hadid for Vogue Eyewear Special Collection of 2018 here in Cape Town. On the way there we got totally drenched – but a lovely man with an umbrella came to our rescue as walked through the gates of the property the event was at. As we walked through the door we had the option of champaige/sparkling wine or a cappuccino – and because it was 10am in the morning I decided upon the latter. To be honest, I would have probably chosen coffee even if it were 10pm: #Addicted.

At the entrance there was this amazing staircase covered with leopard print that I couldn’t resist taking a photo in front of.

Gigi revealed the first wave of her second collection of the Gigi Hadid for Vogue Eyewear line. For those of you who still don’t know who Gigi Hadid is – read my blog post about her here.

The supermodel/designer has brought out a few new sunglass and optical frame styles – showcasing her idea of “trademark style with unexpected contrasts.” Gigi Hadid was spotted wearing her own designs throughout fashion month. The tiny sunglasses of the 90’s are making a strong comeback – and although slightly ineffective for sun protection – from a fashion point-of-view… they instantly make you look hot as fire. The colourful lenses add a feminine touch and are great for days when the sun isn’t too bright and a darker lens would be too intense. All of the designs channel 90’s fashion and look best when worn low on the nose.

The first style is a very small, ultra light frame. (You can see me wearing them in the cover photo of this post.)

These square frames are extremely hard to get hold of! I have searched far and wide but can’t seem to find stock availability anywhere. Guess I will have to keep waiting and just looking at the pictures of what could be for now ;).
