What is Dry Body Brushing?

Dry body brushing is one of those things that should become a daily ritual – like brushing your teeth, moisturising your face or having a shower.

While scratching through all the gunk we have in our house – I landed upon a dry body brush and wondered what on earth this thing is for.

Dry body brushing activates your lymph which results in your body metabolising toxins, reduce water retention and cellulite much more efficiently. It also softens and tones your skin – and that’s without even hitting the gym! The best part is that you don’t have to wait weeks or months to see the results as it is almost instantaneous.

To brush your body – start at the soles of your feet and work your way up your body towards your heart. If you are limited for time – focus on the back of your knees as there is a density of lymph in that zone. For your arms, start at your hands and brush over your elbows and over the upper arms. Throw in a few stokes under your arms too – this area is also concentrated in lymph.

Take note that the brushing is not scrubbing – do not rub backwards and forwards but stick to rubbing with long swift strokes in the direction of your heart. Two minutes is more than enough – and it can even be done in the shower!
